Thatched roof house survey results
We conducted a survey to determine how many thatched roof houses were left in Kobe City.
Building survey
From February 2023 to March 2023, we conducted field surveys of 840 thatched roof houses, which were identified through surveys conducted by the Kobe City in 2015.
We found that 728 thatched houses remained within Kobe City.
2．Kobe City cultural properties
We designate and register items in Kobe City that are outstanding in terms of cultural design, technical excellence, historical value, academic value, or remarkable examples of school or local characteristic as Tangible Cultural Properties.
Many of the buildings designated and registered as Tangible Cultural Properties are thatched roof houses.
3.Architectural Artifacts of Importance to the Landscape
We have established a system to designate buildings important to the landscape such as historical buildings and buildings that have become symbolic to the region Architectural Artifacts of Importance to the Landscape, which marks them for preservation and utilization. We are working to promote the designation of thatched roof houses as Architectural Artifacts of Importance to the Landscape.
