Kobe Initiatives for Preservation and Utilization

Kobe Kayabuki: Making the traditions handed down to us our own.
We have created a book talled the Kobe Kayabuki Guidebook, which gives accessible explanations on the various support systems in place to ensure that kayabuki minka can be used as shops or cafes with peace of mind, including the Kobe Kayabuki Guidebook, which provides an accessible introductions to building safety regulations and cultural property and landscape systems.

We have established a system to designate buildings important to the landscape such as historical buildings and buildings that have become symbolic to the region Architectural Artifacts of Importance to the Landscape, which marks them for preservation and utilization.
By being designated as Architectural Artifacts of Importance to the Landscape, building owners are eligible for partial subsidies on building repair fees, etc.

Cultural property designation and registration

We designate and register items in Kobe City that are outstanding in terms of cultural design, technical excellence, historical value, academic value, or remarkable examples of school or local characteristic as Tangible Cultural Properties.
By this designation and being registered, building owners are eligible for partial subsidies on building repair fees, etc.
